Lessons from Joseph: How to Hang on to Hope

  1. Exercise Patience

  • What does “active waiting” look like when circumstances don’t change quickly?

  • READ Romans 12:12 What stands out? What’s encouraging? Convicting?

  • When has patience been difficult but later brought clarity about God’s activity?

  • Where do you find yourself currently waiting on God?

    • What hope/promises/Truth can you cling to in the waiting?

  1. Eliminate Pride

  • What is dangerous about believing YOU are the hero of your own story?

  • Read Philippians 2:8-9 - What stands out?

    • How does the humility and selflessness we see in Jesus compare and contrast with what our culture celebrates or rewards?

  • How can followers of Jesus subtly drift into a self-focused way of living, even while trying to do good things?

  1. Experience God’s Plan (by knowing it, believing it, and working it)

  • What helps you discern whether a decision aligns with God’s leading rather than your own preferences or plans?

  • Share a time when you were confident about the direction your life was headed, but God redirected you in an unexpected way?

  • What’s the difference between understanding God’s plan and actively walking it out?

  • What obstacles make obedience difficult?

  • What benefits have you experienced—or seen—when you have chosen to trust and obey God’s plan?
