You Are Unique and You Matter to God

Deb Goolsby

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.  Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex.  Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it.”  Psalms 139:13-14  NLT

God’s Word says that we were prescribed before birth.  God knew what we would be like.  He chose me and He chose my characteristics!  Unique!  That’s what we all are and there is no one else like me.  I am irreplaceable and even more that, I am known by Him.

So why do I fear rejection and have insecurities?  Sin!  When I let sin enter into my life, those fears and rejections creep into my life.  I am learning to be glad for who I am.  God didn’t make me by accident and He is very creative, and His workmanship is marvelous. God does not make mistakes.

“For it is when the Lord thinks well of us that we are really approved, and not when we think well of ourselves.”   2 Corinthians 10:18  TEV

The effect of sin is always insecurity.  The more we sin, the more insecure we become.  The fear of rejection is actually a rejection of God’s truth.  God not only created you to be unique, but He also made your acceptable through Christ.  “Even before He made the world God loved us so much and He chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.”  Ephesians 1:4 NLT

So, what do we do when we feel that sense of insecurity?  Get on our knees and bring God back into the foremost of our daily lives.  Get into His Word and listen to Him as He desires to have that time with us.  And remember that “God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish and have eternal life.”  (John 3:16 - NLT)   That is how much God loves each of us; enough to send His Son down to earth to die on that cross for us (Yes, you and me) so that we could have the free gift of eternal life.  Wow, again I remind myself of how much I am loved and how much I matter to God.
