Whose Side Are You On?

Cliff Ellison

During the Civil War, someone was reported to have asked Abraham Lincoln, “Mr. President, do you think God is on our side?”  He replied something like this.  “My concern is whether or not we are on His side.”

My ten year old grandson visited me on Father’s Day.  As we were leaving the church on our way to dinner, I asked him if he had been reading his Bible.  To my delight, he answered, "Yes", and without me asking any more questions, he began to inform me that we need not worry where to sleep if we are on God’s side.  I then asked him how he knew that, and he told me that the Bible said so in the Book of Matthew.  I don’t know why he read and remembered that particular passage, but it reminded me of the hope that Christians can put their faith in.

Matthew 8:20 says this.  "And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay His head."

Many times the Christian succumbs to the stresses, messes and strains of life by looking at the situation and not the solution, which is Jesus.  They become sick, depressed, and sometimes go as far as committing the unthinkable (suicide), a permanent solution for a temporary problem.

Romans 8:20 says, "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

God is our Heavenly Father, (Daddy).  He may not seem to be there when you want Him, but He is always on time. Be patient.

I could relate to this Daily Walk passage with all that I am going through being patient has been one virtue I truly needed to learn. Still learning to be patient everyday it is a struggle. I can do it through my Father in Heaven he is behind me all the way!

Chris,This is uber cool. I'll be happy to contribute. Photographers get an avltrnaeite place to share their work. Bloggers like myself will have an easy place to get fresh visuals to tell the musicians' stories. People who blog shots should give credit to the photogs. And people who can identify the faces in the shot will be reaching the highest level of excellence. C,Please drop me a line at trudeau@earthlink.net. And congrats, again, on community coolness.
