What is Written on Your Face?

Lanita Perez

"When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant, because he had spoken with the Lord." Exodus 34:29

It has been said many times, “a picture is worth a thousand words”, which means a picture tells a story just as well as a large amount of descriptive words. Sometimes words can figuratively be written all over your face, which may also tell a story. The story that is being told might not necessarily be what you want known to others. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai it was evident by his face that he had spent time with the Lord. Scripture says that Moses’ face was radiant and the people were afraid. His face told the story of what was in his heart. Moses had spent time with a Holy God and God’s holiness was written all over his face so-to-speak.

I had been in the hospital with my daughter after her surgery and although her surgery went well; there was a complication after she had been settled in her room. She had the most caring doctors taking care of her at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and they were concerned about her vital signs. There was something wrong and their teams were collaborating back and forth on what the problem could be. I noticed that the doctors were trying with care to not alarm me and were moving ever so quietly away from me, so they could talk among themselves. I picked up on what was happening and decided to stop trying to listen to their conversation and I started praying. The tension in the room began to thicken and I headed for the restroom to meet with my Savior. I got on my knees and prayed until I had no more words. I started to cry and as the tears flowed down my cheeks I had this overwhelming peace that I could not explain. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 I dried my eyes and quickly returned to the hospital room. I motioned to my husband that it was time to leave. He looked at me in disbelief knowing that I hadn’t left the hospital since my daughter had been admitted.

I returned to the hospital the next morning feeling easy going and well rested. I made my way up to my daughter’s room and there she was sleeping quietly and the atmosphere was calm. The head doctor saw me as he walked in and started to smile. He keep watching me and finally said slowly that I was getting way to much rest, because he could not believe how well I looked after what my family had been through. Then he began to tell me how his team was able to solve the problem and my daughter’s vital signs returned to normal by early morning. I knew that my Lord had written all over my face His love and care for me, because I had spent time in His presence.

What is written on your face? Is your face reflecting time spent with the Lord? Will you start now with your spiritual make over so that your face can become radiant and point others to your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?
