Trying To Be Someone You're Not!
“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.” Hebrews 11:24
There is a feeling of “awe” when one chooses to be one’s self and not what others want him/her to be. Moses could have kept it a secret that he was Jewish and become a Pharaoh and live in a lie, but Moses wanted to do what God wanted him to do. Was it instant gratification for Moses? Probably not, but his heart knew that that was where and what God wanted of him. For the next 80 years of his life, he went to live with the Israelite slaves.
Are you trying to be someone else, or are you letting God shine through you? Do you feel the sense of “awe” when you are the real you and not what others expect of you?
If you want to live an effective life, be yourself and relax! The pressures of the outside are your own making and when you fully “love you like God loves you”, there is a great sense of pressure relief.
Think about this:
Stop feeling the pressure to be what others expect of you; who did God make you to be? Psalm 139:14 says that we are ”fearfully and wonderfully made.” When you are not trying to be anyone but yourself, what differences do you notice, emotionally, physically and mentally? Doesn’t it make a difference in how you treat others?
“Obviously, I’m not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please God. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christ’s servant.” Galatians 1:10
He's Still Working On Me
He's still working on me, to make me what I ought to be
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars
The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars
How loving and patient He must be, He's still working on me
