“Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace.”  Philippians 4:6-7a NLT

I have written a number of times about my dad and how he was a mentor of mine and what he and my mom did for me as a child. God called my dad home on the first day of this year, January 1. I miss my dad, but rejoice that he is in the presence of our Heavenly Father. I have that peace that God gives. I know that I can do nothing about yesterday, I can do everything today to honor my Heavenly Father, and pray about tomorrow.

In Philippines 4:6-7, we are reminded to not worry about anything and pray about everything. Probably one of the most difficult things to do in life, but if you want to experience God’s peace, this is the way to do it.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”  Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

I also know that I am to trust God with all my steps and in doing this, my path is His will. This is what I have clung to going through this recent event in my life. Each day, we must wake up taking time in His Word, reading what He is telling us and stepping out in faith. I have trusted God with each step and when things start to get messed up, I am reminded to take time; and when I do this, I realize that I have been walking my steps and not God's. On my knees I go (again) and ask for the forgiveness that He gives. Our God is an awesome God and is right there to take us through whatever journey is before us. Whatever the “journey” you may be going through, looking into the scriptures, you will seek and find His voice right there, in the midst of pain.

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”  Jeremiah 29:13 NLT

I am very thankful that my father instilled in me the need to look to the scriptures in everything in my life. I’m also thankful that he had a personal relationship with the Lord and showed that to us each day. My dad loved the Lord and made sure his kids lived their faith in all they did. Thanks, Dad! I look forward to seeing you again one day.
