Tools of Transformation
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)
January 3 – Tools of Transformation
Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
God uses two main things to transform our lives. He uses the Word of God and the Spirit of God. We receive the Spirit the moment we receive Jesus as our Savior (Eph. 1:13). Every time we come to a Worship Service, spend time daily in God’s Word or attend a Bible Study, God puts His Word in our heads and in our hearts. The Holy Spirit then uses that Word to guide us.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. - John 16:13
Apply God’s Word to your life.
What truth has God written on your heart this week?
In what ways did the Spirit try to guide you with God’s Word this week?
Describe your response to the Spirit’s leading. Did you eagerly agree to follow? Did you try to ignore Him? Were you unaware of Him?
Father, thank You that You write Your Word on my heart and You have placed Your Spirit in me to guide me. Help me to be aware of Your Spirit this week. Give me the desire to follow Your Word. I want You to make my heart new. Amen.
