The Greatest Celebrity
In my line of work (video production), I have had a chance to meet a few celebrities, and it's exciting to say that I stood three feet away from "so and so". It's always fun to see someone famous in person. There was a time that one of them actually remembered my name the next time I saw them. I remember how important I felt, "So and so remembered my name!" And while that may be exciting to us, in reality, it isn't a big deal at all. My life didn't get any greater or richer as a result of me meeting these people.
But, there is one celebrity that is worth meeting and worth getting to know. He is the greatest celebrity of them all. And the most exciting thing about it is that this celebrity longs to get to know you better, and longs to spend time with you.
David said: "When I consider your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?" (Psalm 8:3-4)
God is the greatest celebrity of all time, and He is in love with you. David says that He is mindful of you. He doesn't just remember you every now and them; He is constantly thinking about you. Have you ever felt that way about a person before? When you feel like that about anyone, you desire to spend as much time with them as possible. You want to be around them, you want to talk to them, you want to hear their voice. God loves you. He desires to spend time with you. He desires to hear from you. He is mindful of you and He cares for you. Even though we are far from deserving His affection, He made sure that we have a way of interacting with Him - by sending His own son, Jesus to die on the cross. Yet so many times in life we get so distracted that we ignore the amazing opportunity that we have. To spend time with the greatest celebrity, the Creator of this universe.
I would encourage you to spend time with Him on a daily basis. He is waiting to hear from you. He is desiring to be there for you, and, as David said, to care for you.
