That's Impossible!

Jim Coyle

"And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."  Matthew 18:3

A few months ago, after I picked up my 7 year old grandson from school, I was reminded of how easy it is for children to accept the truth of God's Word.  As we were driving home, he asked me if I watched the television show, "The Big Bang Theory".  I told him, "No" and asked if he did , and he said, "No".  I asked if he knew what the big bang theory was.  He did not so I gave him a short version by saying that it was an explosion in space which caused the world to form and then a fish crawled out of the water and eventually turned into a man.  He look at me with a shocked look on his face and said, "that's impossible." I then said that the Bible tells us God made the world and people, to which he replied, "that's the truth".

After we had this short conversation, I thought about how simple it is for children to accept and believe the truth of God's power and ability.  As adults, we have a tendency to interject our personal beliefs into what God can do.  When it comes to God's ability to change a life, forgive sin, or meet a need, we sometimes think that's impossible.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 19:26, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  We need to focus on this scripture, exercise child like faith and say "that's the truth."

Nothing is Impossible

Through You I can do anything
I can do all things
'Cause it's You who gives me strength
Nothing is impossible
Through You blind eyes are open
Strongholds are broken
I am living by faith
Nothing is impossible
I'm not gonna live by what I see
I'm not gonna live by what I feel
Deep down I know that You're here with me
And I know that You can do anything
I believe, I believe
I believe, I believe in you

Jim, sometime we worship and believe in a small God. A God that needs our help, one who is unable solve our problems,or heal our self in-flicked wounds. And so many of us struggle under our own power;which is insufficient. Thanks for the reminder that the battle is the Lords not mind.We just need to be patient; trust and believe.
