“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)
February 16 – Steadfastly Continue to Follow God
Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Write out Romans 12:1-2.
"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
If our goal is to steadfastly follow God and continue to be transformed, each day we need to choose to serve the Lord. We serve the Lord by daily submitting to the transforming power of the Word and Spirit and by being actively involved in God’s church – attending worship service, serving in ministry, taking spiritual growth classes and giving to God’s work. We set our hearts to run the race, discarding the entanglements and fixing our eyes on the goal. If every time we trip, we get up, brush off, fix our eyes on the goal and keep running, we will finish the race that God has marked out for us. Remember, transformation is process.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
Tomorrow starts a new week. What decisions will you make for tomorrow so that you and your family can steadfastly continue to follow God?
Father, I know in my head that following You is the best thing for me and my family. Help me to follow through on my decisions, get up when I fall, and fix my eyes on You. Let Your love and compassion overflow into my relationships. Amen.

"Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith." Hebrews 13:7
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2
"For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8
