Spiritual Lessons From Our Heavenly Father
"Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willing bring affliction or grief to the children of men." Lamentations 3:32
We have all faced challenges and disappointments in life and although they may not be the same for everyone, they are unpleasant. Why can’t life be predictable in every moment, of every day, in every way?
Life’s challenges can be extremely uncomfortable to the point that we cry out to God. Isn’t this what God wants from us, a dependence on Him? When we cry out to God in prayer, He hears us, sees us and has compassion on us. His word tells us that He knows what we need before we ask Him. When we cry out to Him in prayer, somehow our faith increases because we believe by faith that He hears us.
When the challenges of life intrude, I know there is a spiritual lesson I am learning in the mist of it; usually God is teaching me a multitude of spiritual lessons. He is our heavenly Father who may not always rescue us from our troubles, but will walk with us through our troubles. When the troubles have passed and I look back on the journey, I see that God has changed me through it. I've increased in spiritual maturity and a deeper compassion for those that may be going through the same struggles.
Daily we should be in prayer focusing on God and meditating on His word. If we are devoted to spending time with Him before the troubles arise, we are off to a great start. When we depend on God, we learn to pray more and to trust Him more.
What challenges or disappointments are you facing today? Will you start out by crying out to God in prayer and reading His word daily, even when life is going well? After devoting time to the Lord, start looking for those spiritual lessons your heavenly Father has for you.
