Making Time For God

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)

January 2 - Making Time For God

Begin your time with God in prayer.

Praise God for who He is.  Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him.  Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.

For transformation to occur in our lives, we need to find time to spend with God.  Even Jesus needed to spend time with His Father.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. - Mark 1:35

How did Jesus find time to spend with His Father?

What sacrifices did Jesus need to make to get away with God?

Apply God’s Word to your life.

What challenges do you face in making time for God each day?

What sacrifices do you need to make to find time in your day to spend with God?

Where and when will you go to be alone with Him?

Will you commit to daily spending time with God for these 40 Days of Transformation?

Father, thank You for Your patience with me.  Forgive me for every time I don’t find the time to spend with You.  I really want a new start this year.  Help me to make the time to spend with You each day.  Give me the discipline to put You before all the other distractions in my life.  Let your love shine through me today.  Amen Father, thank You for Your patience with me.  Forgive me for every time I don’t find the time to spend with You.  I really want a new start this year.  Help me to make the time to spend with You each day.  Give me the discipline to put You before all the other distractions in my life.  Let your love shine through me today.  Amen.
