"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God." Psalm 42:11
How is your attitude today? Are you excited and ready to charge the next hill? Or, is your gas tank empty and feelings of discouragement a constant companion? Life is tough. How can anyone find hope in a messed up world of pain and disappointment?
Teenage David faced Goliath, the world's heavyweight champion, with hope that God would give him victory. He did. Gideon faced the massive Midianite army with 300 men and hope in God. They won. Paul and Silas, incarcerated with chains and stocks, sang with hope in God. They were set free. Two parents brought their dying daughter to Jesus. She lived.
Is your situation any harder than those? If you focus on your circumstances, you will become discouraged often. If you focus on God today, you will find hope to lift you up and keep you going. Because God is so loving, wise, and powerful, He can be trusted every day in every way. What is there is your life that is too hard for God?
How do you put your hope in God?
1. Thank God for Who He is, for all that He has done, and for all that He will do for you.
2. Read God's promises of help. Psalms is a good starting point.
3. Ask God to take control of your situation and work it out.
4. Move forward by faith in God's next step in your life.
Circumstances can knock you down, but God will lift you up.
