“For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory!” Psalm 32:7
When I was a little girl, my sister and I would make a tent in our bedroom with all the blankets, pillows, and furniture. Then we would spend all day with our toys or play hide and seek. With a book and flashlight, I was in my hiding place where no one could see me or find me. We really thought we were hiding from our mom and dad, but little did we know that they always knew where we were.
It’s the same with our Lord. When I chose to make Him the Lord of my life, He became my “hiding place”, my protection from trouble. Yes, troubles do come my way, but what am I choosing to do at that time? I can go to my hiding place and read the Psalms and there are always verses that are speaking right to me.
There is a quiet place, far from the rapid pace
Where God can soothe my troubled mind
Sheltered by tree and flower, there in my quiet hour
With Him my cares are left behind
Whether a garden small, or on a mountain tall
New strength and courage there I find
Then from that quiet place, I go prepared to face a new day with love for all mankind
