"Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days." Psalm 90:14
Think about the last time you spent time with God. What were you thinking? Were you driven by the thought that “good Christians” have quiet times? Did you know you would need to answer the accountability question in Bible Study so you got it done and checked it off your list? Did you have a Bible study assignment you wanted/needed to finish? Did you long to sit at Jesus’ feet like Mary and just listen (Luke 10:38-42)? Were you distracted like Martha? Did you come with a heart that looks to be satisfied with God’s unfailing love?
As I read and reread this verse again this week, my heart was both challenged and convicted. I tried imagine what my walk with God would be like if I came to God with that simple prayer. What would it look like to approach God longing and desiring to be satisfied with His love?
I thought of all sorts of questions. How does God’s unfailing love satisfy my heart? Do I leave my times with God satisfied with His unfailing love, with joy and gladness flowing from my heart? Do I want to be satisfied by His unfailing love? Am I willing to be satisfied by His unfailing love?
In the end, my desire is to sit at Jesus’, to be satisfied with His unfailing love, to have joy and gladness flow from my heart.
"Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:25-26
Great is Thy Faithfulness
Great is The faithfulness O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy had hath provided
Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me
