Head Knowledge! Heart Knowledge!

Deb Goolsby

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be make known to God.”  Philippians 4:6

Have you ever had a time when you knew the information, you heard the wise council of friends, but you just couldn't get it to your heart?  Last night I was struggling with this every issue as I thought about losing someone very special in my life.  I am assured of this person's salvation and know that they will be in such an exciting time being with Jesus, but guilt was consuming me in saying that this is better for this person.

So how do I get the “heart knowledge” and get rid of the “head knowledge?

I need to practice what the scriptures say in Philippians 4:6.  I need to NOT worry about it and pray about it with thanksgiving in my heart, letting my request be known to God.  What an assurance we are given, but we still have to practice it.  It doesn’t just happen!  It’s allowing God to work in my life and my situation with thanksgiving in heart (and in my head).  You see, I have a very stubborn, thick head and penetrating it is not easy.  I make it harder than it should be, but God promises to hear me and do what is best for me.

So again, how do I get the “heart knowledge” and get rid of the “head knowledge?  I give it all to God.  I release my will and let my heart and mind be at peace.  Give Him full ownership of the situation and then trust Him with the outcome.

“Pray, and let God worry.”  Martin Luther

Why Should I Worry or Fret?

God is love God is light
God is perfect day and night
He is eternal He never changes
Though the seas dries up
to swallow mountain ranges

God has interest in you and me
Wanting us to be the best we can be
We're not perfect living the way we do
But He knows just what
we we're going through

Chorus: I believe, I believe, I believe
So why should I worry or fret.

He holds the future in the palm of His Hand,
And He has never failed me yet,
I know He is reigning and still has control,
So why should I worry or fret.

I know He holds the future, and I know He holds my hand,
And I know just as sure as I sing this song,
I'm a part of His almighty plan.
