He Who Has An Ear
"And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." Mark 4:9 (KJV)
Do you ever find yourself, after a Sunday morning service, wondering what was the message about? You remember it was great, but you don't remember the actual message. I have been in that place many times. So many times I come to church with a great deal of things on my mind, and I spend time worshiping the Lord, not really paying attention to the words that I'm singing; just going through the motions. During the message, my mind keeps on wandering away. Most of it is due to the fact that our lives are getting busier and busier. Our minds are constantly racing 100 miles an hour. And unfortunately, we carry that with us to the church service as well.
Jesus encourages us to pay attention to the words He's saying, "He who has an ear let him hear." He wants to speak to us. He wants to be there for us. He wants to give us direction. He wants to express His love to us. He wants to change us. He wants to make us more like Him. But we don't let Him because we are too busy with all the other things in our lives. My encouragement to you is to ask the Lord to quiet your heart and mind every time you come to church, every time you open His Word and every time you come before Him. Ask Him to speak to you, and then pay close attention to the words that you are hearing or reading. Come to Him expecting change, expecting a fresh encounter with Him.
Remember, God loves you, and He wants to speak to you every day. Are you ready to hear from Him?
