“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)
February 4 – Grow in Connection to the Body
Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Read Romans 12:1-2 out loud. It’s our verse of the year and we want to learn it.
"We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully." Romans 12:6-8
Apply God’s Word to your life.
This week, we are making commitments, laying plans for action, and taking action.
For those looking for a place to serve, write down what ministry you will approach first. Make the decision to sacrifice that time for the Lord each week/month. Write the ministry on your blue commitment form. Plan to pick up information at the Ministry Fair and attend the Ministry Orientation meeting.
For those of you that are already serving, evaluate your service. Do you serve with joy? Are you faithful to show up when scheduled and are you early? Do you rely on God’s strength to serve? Are you too comfortable? Has the Spirit been nudging you to take more leadership or responsibility in your area of service? How can you help lift your leader’s load? Whom can you bring alongside of you to equip for ministry?
Father, help me be a good steward of the giftedness You have given me. I am so sorry that I have not acted sooner, that I’ve made excuses, or haven’t followed through on past commitments. Lead me to a ministry where I can serve. Help me make the necessary sacrifices to be faithful. May You be glorified by my faithfulness. Amen.

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:10-11
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
