“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)
January 10 – Giving Your Body to God
Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Read Romans 12:1-2 out loud. It’s our verse of the year and we want to learn it.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What two reasons do you find in this verse for honoring God with your body?
What price was paid for you?
Apply God’s Word to your life.
How will seeing your body as a temple where the Holy Spirit lives change how you live?
Meditate on what it means that you are not your own.
How can you honor God with your body today? Be specific.
Father, this week I am working on giving You all of me. Today I give You my body. Help me to be more aware that You live in me and treat my body as a temple. Help me remember I am not my own. Give me the power to please You with everything I do with my body today. Amen.
