Finish the Race

Cliff Ellison

“For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” Hebrews 10:36

The life of a Christian is as challenging as a non-Christian's. The Apostle Paul uses the analogue that we are like an athlete running a race; not just a sprint, but a long distance race, a marathon race undertaking difficulties along the way.

Everyone that runs a marathon race would like to be the first across the finish line, but also equally as much everyone that runs a marathon race, the primary goal is to cross the finish line.

In life, we will face setbacks, but what really matters is whether or not we have the courage to go forward in faith despite the challenges and even defeats we will encounter.

If we are in the will of God, the real battle is the Lord’s. So when it comes to facing life’s struggles, get back up when you fall down because in Christ, your victory is already won! Jesus will see you across the finish line.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1–2
