Eyes Like an Eagle
"Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord preserve both people and animals. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings." Psalm 36:5-7
Joel and I have been married for over 26 years and after being together for some time I noticed he has incredible long distant vision. Being with him is like being with someone who possesses a super power. He can see the hours of operation on the glass doors of a department store from a parking space in the parking lot. There were times when we were driving home from his parent’s house late at night and I would point to cars far ahead of us on the road and he could tell me the make and model; being correct every time.
Years ago I commuted to and from work every day in the company van pool with fourteen other employees to downtown Los Angeles. One evening the van broke down on Interstate 10 and we pulled over to the side of the freeway to wait there for help. To our surprise a car pulled up in front of the van and the person driving got out and stepped into the van. I was sitting towards the rear of the van so I didn’t have a clear view of who had come aboard. I looked up after hearing him speak to the driver, because I could recognized Joel’s voice anywhere. He had gotten off work early that evening and he saw the van on the side of the road and quickly recognized me sitting among the others through the tinted windows of the van; needless to say I had been rescued.
Over the years I’ve noticed that my husband’s vision is not as superior as years before. We scheduled an appointment with our optometrist to see about getting reading glasses. During the appointment I asked the doctor if it is possible for someone to have vision better than 20/20 and he said “yes, in fact your husband’s vision right now is greater than 20/20 except he needs reading glasses”; I knew it!
Our God in heaven always sees us and His vision will never fail. In fact He sees us no matter where we are, rather in the light or in darkness. God sees us in our joy and in our sadness. His love is great as it reaches from earth to the heavens. God is righteous and just higher than the mountains and deeper than the sea. He comforts us and He is our refuge always hiding us underneath His wings.
Will you take time today to meditate on who God is? Decide today to set time aside to read God’s word, pray and believe what He has promised for His people. Commit to remove whatever it is that gets in the way of a right view of who God is; a supernatural God with supernatural power.
