"Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”  Isaiah 30:21

There are always changes in life such as family and friends relocating, changing jobs, family additions and growing older!  Although we are constantly changing direction, the words of Jeremiah 29:11 remind us, “ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Sometimes, God helps us to anticipate that a change is coming as we recognize it is Him who is removing or imposing obstacles.  At other times, just like an unexpected storm, there is no warning and He changes our circumstances suddenly.  Either way, we can know that God is setting the direction for our lives.

How often have we read of Joseph, Daniel, Moses and Abraham as God led them in to unfamiliar places and left them with multiple unanswered questions?  Just like these men who trusted God, we can rest assured that God knows where we are going long before we get there.  We can enjoy each and every day of opportunity knowing that God loves us and is leading us.

The ways of God are not hidden; we learn through the Bible, prayer and simply asking, knowing that He will give us direction.  Isaiah 58:9 tells us, “Then you shall call, and the Lord shall answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, ‘Here I am.’”  Although we may not see the entire plan, we know God gives direction when we seek Him.

There is an old hymn that I recalled recently named “He Leadeth Me” and it reminded me that regardless of where God leads me, it is His hand that does the leading.  Each day will hold both challenges and rewards, and as we listen for any new direction, we can again realize that we are held in His care.

He Leadeth Me

He leadeth me:  O blessed thought
O words with heavenly comfort fraught
Whate'er I do, where'er I be
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me

He leadeth me, He leadeth me
By His own hand He leadeth me
His faithful follower I would be
for by His hand he leadeth me
