Devoted to God
“Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly.” Psalm 86:1-3
Whatever we give our time and attention to is what we are devoted to. It shouldn’t surprise us, that the word addiction can be defined as “the state of being enslaved to a habit” (Dictionary.com). All around us, we see the hurtful effects of devotion to alcohol, computers, food, and sexual immorality. Psalm 86 offers advice for those addictions! Acknowledging that we need God’s help, the writer words encourage us to devote ourselves to God, serve God, and trust God, calling on Him constantly. I am thankful that God hears us, answers us, protects us, saves us and shows us mercy as we devote ourselves to HIM.
“We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
Heavenly Father, help me to be devoted to You and only You. Help me to see where my devotion has strayed to things that are not of YOU. Amen.
Trust and Obey
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
