Close the Deal

Jim Coyle

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

People involved in sales have one major goal: close the deal (make the sale). They go through a training process to learn how to present the product. They learn how demonstrate what the product offers, how to explain that it can make your life better and what a great value it is to you. They learn various techniques for closing the deal and making the sale. Since many of them are on commission if they don’t make the sale, they don’t get paid.

One of the great things about sharing Christ with others is we are not called to be salespeople. In Acts 1:8 we are called to be witness of what Jesus has done. One of the problems some of us have with sharing Christ is we don’t realize we don’t have to make the sale. We feel we have failed if the person we shared the gospel with does not receive Christ. We must remember only the Holy Spirit can convict someone of sin (John 16:8); our part is only to present Christ and what he has to offer.

The following quote gives the proper perspective of our part in sharing Christ:

“Successful witnessing is taking the initiative to share Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.” Dr. Bill Bright

If you are not sure how to present Christ, Sunrise Church offers training in sharing you faith and preparing your personal testimony.
