Choose Your Spouse Wisely
"But Esau's wives made life miserable for Isaac and Rebekah." Genesis 26:35
"Then Rebekah said to Isaac, "I am sick and tired of these local Hittite women! I would rather die than see Jacob marry one of them." Genesis 27:46
Esau, the son of Isaac and Rebekah, married from the local tribe of the Hittites. The scripture says that this choice of spouse made life miserable for his parents, Isaac and Rebekah.
In the same way, who you marry doesn't just affect you. It affects all those around you, especially your family.
Because the hardship that Esau's choice made on the family, she decided to send her other son Jacob back to her family in her hometown to find a wife.
Two principles when choosing a future spouse:
1. They may be attractive; you may have gone to school with them, you may work with them; they might live near to you, but don't marry them. Don't marry the local natives, if they are unbelievers.
2. You may have wandered far from God, but when looking for a spouse, go back home. Look for a future spouse from the family of God!
