Changes & Choices

Deb Goolsby

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses.  Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.  Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live.”  Deuteronomy 30:19

Changes are happening in my life lately that I haven’t been dealing too well with.  God reminds me that the choices that I make are what help me to deal better with those changes.  Do I choose to take my thoughts to Him, or do I choose to wallow in the “woe is me” state of mind?

I am aware that changes are important in our emotional, spiritual, and physical growth; whether it be changes that come with age, or the emotional changes that happen when I have to come out of my comfort zone (I like my comfort zone, too).  What type of attitude am I going to have today?

God tells me that when I choose to come to Him in these changing times, when I make the choice, there will be blessings.  Changes will come into my life, but by my choosing to bring it to God, He brings blessings out of that change.  (Sometimes the blessing comes a bit later!)

So, the words that I tell others are words that I need to put into practice, too.  It’s about choices!  What way are you going to choose?  God, or self?  I choose God!  It’s as easy as A-B-C; Admit, Believe, Commit to follow God.

“…then choose for yourself this day who you will serve,”  Joshua 24:15

Often times in my life,it seems that change is the only constant. Dealing with the many changes,(work, family, income, health ageing etc.)I have feelings of anxiousness and fear.I know that the scriptures say "fear not" ( BUT). I wish I could say that I have always chose to wait on God, howerver I am getting better at it. Thanks for sharing Debbie

Debbie, thanks for the encouraging words today, I sure needed them. Many of my co-workers have applied and gotten better paying jobs but I have not landed anything. I am a big believer in change and actually thrive in those types of environments but God has not opened any doors at this time for me. I'm following your advice to "to take my thoughts to Him", instead of choosing to remain "in the “woe is me” state of mind"! Have a blessed day.
