Can I Repay God?
"How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people." Psalm 116:12-14 (NIV)
In these 3 verses, you have a question followed by the answer. The truth is, on our own, there is no way to repay the LORD for the good things He has done for us. The only way to repay is by receiving what He gives us freely, salvation through the death of Jesus for our sin and committing to lead a life pleasing to God.
An example of this was my mother-in-law, Agnes. She recently passed into eternity with the Lord. She accepted Jesus as her Savior and lived a life that showed her commitment to God. Although she was never in public view, she always served others. She could be found in the church kitchen cooking, serving, cleaning, or giving others rides to church. Her home was always open for home groups or whatever meeting might be needed. At an age when most of us look to retirement, she and her husband sold their home and went to Bolivia for 2 years as missionaries. I never heard her complain or question God, even after the death of her son and husband. When she was just about blind and bedridden from severe Parkinson's disease, her only complaint was that she could not read her Bible or attend church services. In Psalms 116:15, the Bible says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints", and I know that this was the case for Agnes.
What do you need to do to "repay the Lord for all of His goodness?"
1. Receive Jesus and tell others about Jesus.
2. Let your lifestyle show others of your commitment to God.
