“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)
February 15 – Allow God’s Transforming Word to Change You
Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Read Romans 12:1-2 out loud.
God’s transforming Word encourages us to live in harmony with people who are different, embrace unpopular people with humility, respond to hurtful people with kindness and overcome evil with good.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
Meditate on the following verses.
Note the people the Spirit of God brings to your mind.
Make the decision to treat them as God instructs in His Word.
Watch out for thoughts that pop into your mind that encourage you to justify ungodly behavior.
Overcome your own evil heart with good.
Father, I praise You for being the God of transformation. I want to be a part of a body of believers who brings your love to everyone and anyone. Convict me when my flesh reacts in ungodly ways. Help me choose to love and encourage and include everyone You bring across my path. Let the change in my heart bring glory to You. Amen.
