The Aherns

Dennis and Denise AhernDr. Dennis Ahern serves as WorldVenture's Pastoral Counselor, providing care for those serving in distant, difficult, and sometimes dangerous locations. Dennis serves missionaries and churches by shepherding ministry families during times of need, fostering the spiritual health necessary for the growth of both worker and work. Since 1992, Dennis has focused a portion of his ministry serving those impacted by trauma. His mission statement includes “the development of trusted relationships during times of crisis, speaking words of grace, hope, and truth in submission to God’s redemptive purposes.”

In addition to counseling, Dennis speaks at conferences for missionaries. Some of the topics he addresses are: maintaining moral purity overseas, mentoring, partnering with God to raise children overseas, and grieving and healing the wounds of betrayal. Prayer requests for 2011 include:

  • spiritual growth and health necessary to be a refreshment for others
  • nurture of balanced life, relationships, and ministry
  • effective conference speaking
  • wisdom for counseling missionaries and their families
  • completion of writing projects
  • development of new financial ministry partners, (need to increase income by an additional 15%)
