A New Year!
‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’ Luke 4:8
A New Year is a great time for a new start. As we begin a New Year, let’s begin by giving God His proper place in our lives.
Although we know that God should come first, unfortunately, for most of us, it’s a daily struggle. Sometimes we don’t want His purposes, or His ways. Other times we just get busy and before we know it, we are calling the shots instead of Him.
Romans 12:1-2 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Take a few moments to present yourself once again to God. Yield your will to His as a living sacrifice. Briefly think about this last year. Thank God for all of your blessings. Think about how you have allowed yourself to be conformed to the world what changes would please God? Think about the areas in which you seen growth and transformation and give thanks to God. Make the choice to continue the transformation process again this year by committing to be in the Word of God each day so that the Spirit can renew your mind and transform your life.
Father, You alone are God. I confess that even though I say You are my God, the way I live shows that often You are not. I get busy and distracted and forget to put You first. As I begin this new year, take Your rightful place in my life. Guide me on the path of transformation. May my life bring glory to You. Amen.
