"Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book." Revelation 22:7
Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:
In chapters 2-3, Jesus instructs the churches on how we are to live today so that we will be ready for the challenging times ahead as the return of Jesus nears.

For what is the church at Ephesus praised in verses 2-3?
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Revelation 2:4-5
It’s easy for us to become complacent in our relationship with God. We slip into the routine of coming to church and then allow our love for God to slip away. When I first came to Christ, I couldn’t wait to spend time with Him each day. I took every opportunity to grow. Jesus was the most important one in my life. I hope your experience was similar, but life gets busy and we get distracted. Soon, the closeness we experienced with God wanes. We do the right things, but we love other things. Jesus addresses this first because it’s crucial for us to get our hearts in the right place – Jesus needs to be our first love.
Apply God’s Word to your life:
· Think back to when you first came to Christ – how excited you were, how eager you were to come to church, how you hungered for God’s Word, and how much you loved God and needed a Savior.
· How have you abandoned your first love? Are you simply doing religious activity?
· What are you loving more than God? What fills your mind and takes up your time?
Confess to God that other things have replaced Him for first place in your heart.
· What do you need to remove that you love more than God? What did you do when you first gave your heart to Christ that you need to do again?
Father, thank you for loving me, sending Jesus to die for my sin, and for showing me that I have slipped away from You. Forgive me for loving other things more than You. Restore my heart. I want to love You and hunger for You like I did at first. Amen.
