40 Days of Prophecy - January 30, 2016 - Leave Room for the Wrath of God

Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:

Read Revelation 19:1-10

The wedding feast of the Lamb is finally here and the church, the bride of Christ, will soon be united with Jesus.

What was the response of the multitude to Christ’s return (vs.1-2)?
What was the response of the elders (vs. 4)?
What is the church on earth invited to do (vs.5)?
What event is ushered in verses 6-7?
Who are the ones who are blessed (vs.9)?
For what did the angel correct John in verse 10?

"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."  Romans 12:17-21

The host of heaven is rejoicing because God has judged the corrupt prostitute and avenged the blood of the martyrs. God has been faithful to His promise and is now about to usher in the Millennial Kingdom.

Apply God’s Word to your life:
· Trust that God will avenge the injustices on this earth.
· Resist the temptation to repay evil with evil.
· Overcome evil with good.

Father, thank you for fulfilling Your promise. Forgive me for all the times I have released my wrath on others. Help me not to return evil for evil, but instead to give a blessing so that others may come to know You. Amen.

Related verses to meditate on:

"To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing." I Peter 3:8-9

"I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."  2 Timothy 4:1-5
