40 Days of Prophecy - January 3, 2016 - Fall at His Feet

Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:

Read Revelation 1:12-16
We often picture Jesus in His humanity, walking with His disciples and ministering to the multitudes. Today’s passage depicts Jesus as the exalted Christ standing among His churches. Describe the exalted Christ.

Verse 17 describes John’s reaction to seeing the exalted Christ. “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.’” Revelation 1:17-18

Why didn’t John need to be afraid (vs.17-18)?
Why do we not need to be afraid if we know Jesus?

We worship the God who is Awesome and Almighty, yet personal and caring. We can trust Him because He is sovereign. In order to be prepared for the future and live in light of eternity, we need to learn to focus on Him.

Apply God’s Word to your life:
· What distracts you from focusing on Christ?
· What can you do that will help you focus on Christ each day?
· With what areas do you struggle trusting God?
· How will getting to know our risen Savior help you trust Him?
· Thank Jesus that He has conquered death so that you don’t need to be afraid.

Father, thank you for revealing Your glory in Jesus. Forgive me for focusing on trivial and earthly things. I want to focus on You and get to know Your Son so that I trust You more fully. Help me to obey Your Word and live in light of eternity today. Amen.
