40 Days of Prophecy - January 15, 2016 - Crown of Glory

Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:

Read 1 Peter 5:1-4

What does Peter exhort the elders to do which will result in receiving an unfading crown of glory (vs.2)?
What attitude were they to have (vs. 2-3)?
When will they receive their crown (vs.4)?

Jesus is very concerned about His sheep. He knows they need loving, feeding, nurturing, protecting and guiding. He’s given that responsibility to the church. We will be rewarded for making it a priority to shepherd God’s sheep.

Apply God’s Word to your life:
· Do you need shepherding? It might be time to get into a small group, take Discovery 1, or go through 5 Step Follow-up.
· What young believers has God placed in your life for you to shepherd?
· Who will you call or text today to encourage in their walk with God?

Father, You gave us the assignment of shepherding Your children. Help me to first be a disciple, a learner, and a follower. Then, help me to help others know You and follow You. Amen.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  Matthew 28:19-20

"But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children. Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us."  I Thessalonians 2:7-8
