40 Days of Prophecy - January 14, 2016 - Rewards in Heaven

Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:

It’s tempting to focus more on our earthly endeavors because our rewards are tangible. We can get them now. So for the next few days, we are going to look at some of the rewards (crowns) that are available in heaven for God’s children.

Read James 1:12
How does one receive the crown of life?

Read 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20
What was Paul’s crown of boasting (exultation) in verse 19?
How did Paul describe the people in the Thessalonian church (vs.20)?
To whom have you ministered that have brought joy to your heart?

"Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good."  I Peter 4:19

As we seek to live our lives for Jesus and reach out to those who don’t know Him, we’ll encounter trials. We persevere by entrusting our soul to our faithful creator and continuing to walk by faith. The end result will be crowns in heaven.

Apply God’s Word to your life:
· Where do you face trials in your walk with God?
· How might Satan be trying to deter you from serving in ministry?
· What can you do to stand firm in the midst of trials?
· Who has God put in your life to invite to church or lead to Christ?

Father, I praise You that You care about the lost. Forgive me for all the times I’ve pulled back in trials. Help me to persevere in faith. Give me the strength to continue to reach out even when it’s hard. I would like to have the same joy that Peter had. Amen.
