Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:
Read Revelation 21:22-27
Why did John not see a temple in the city (vs. 22)?
Why doesn’t the sun or moon need to shine (vs. 23)?
How will the nations walk (vs.24)?
Why won’t they need to shut the gates to the city (vs. 25)?
What will be brought into the city (vs. 26)?
Who will be able to enter the city (vs. 27)?
2 Peter 3:13-14 - "But according to his promise we are waiting for new Heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace."
We will spend eternity in the presence of God. We will walk by His light. Righteousness, not evil, will reside there. According to 2 Peter 3:14, what should we be doing while we wait for this city?
Apply God’s Word to your life:
· Recognize that on earth you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you.
· Learn to worship God in Spirit and in truth. Continue to make time to spend with God. Allow His Word and His Spirit to speak to your heart.
· Commit to follow Jesus and walk in the light.
Father, thank you that we can look forward to being in Your presence with all evil removed. Until then, help me to remember that my body is Your temple because Your Spirit lives there. Show me how I can treat Your temple with care and honor. Lead me away from the darkness and into the Truth. Amen.
