Begin your time with God in prayer.
Begin your time with praise to God. Confess any sin that might be hindering your relationship with Him. Ask God to give you spiritual understanding as you spend time in His Word.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
"7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
What did Paul ask God to remove from his life (7)?
How many times did he ask (8)?
What was God’s will (9)?
What was Paul’s response to God’s will (9-10)?
Sometimes God chooses not to answer our prayers so that we will depend on Him in our weakness and allow His power in us to accomplish His will.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
· What have you been praying for that God may be choosing not to answer?
· How might God want to display His power through your weakness?
· Will you, for the sake of Christ, allow God’s power to be demonstrated in your weakness?
Father, Your will, not mine. Help me to see my weaknesses and an opportunity for Your power to rest on me and bring glory to Your name. Thank you for reminding me that You don’t always answer my prayers the way I want. Help me to surrender to Your will and Your ways. Amen.
