Begin your time with God in prayer.
Begin your time with praise to God. Confess any sin that might be hindering your relationship with Him. Ask God to give you spiritual understanding as you spend time in His Word.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
"11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king's house. All that Solomon had planned to do in the house of the Lord and in his own house he successfully accomplished. 12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time. 17 And as for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my rules, 18 then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to rule Israel.’" 2 Chronicles 7: 11-18
What did God desire for His people to do when they suffered from the consequences of their sin (13-14)?
What did God promise He would do when they repented (turned) from their wicked ways and sought to walk as God commanded (14)?
We have a tendency to hold onto the past sins of hurts of others. How is God different?
God’s blessing is not based on how good we have been in the past, but on how repentant we are now.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
· For what do you need to seek God’s forgiveness today?
· What change in behavior will you need to make to turn from that sin?
· Pray for those on your “Pray for 10” list to see their need for forgiveness.
· Pray for God to draw them to His Son so He can cleanse their hearts.
Father, I praise You that You are a compassionate and forgiving God. Forgive me for holding onto sin and loving the things of this world more than You. Help me to come to You in prayer from a repentant heart. Draw those I care about to Your Son. Help them see their need for a Savior. Amen.

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart." Psalm 51:1-6
