40 Days of Prayer - Pray With a Vision of God's Character - Day 29

Begin your time with God in prayer.
Begin your time with praise to God. Confess any sin that might be hindering your relationship with Him. Ask God to give you spiritual understanding as you spend time in His Word.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.

"In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Isaiah 6:1-5

How does Isaiah describe God (1)?

What were the seraphim doing (3)?

What happened when God spoke (4)?

What was Isaiah’s response to seeing God in His greatness, holiness and power (5)?

When we pray, we need to see God for who He is and come to Him in humility and repentance, seeing our own unworthiness.

Apply God’s Word to your life.
· Take a few minutes and meditate on God’s character
· Put yourself in Isaiah’s place and try to picture how you would feel if your sin were exposed by God’s holy perfection and greatness
· Offer your prayers today from a humble, repentant heart.

Father, I confess that my view and understanding of You is much too small.  Help me come to see Your greatness and Your holiness.  Help me to remember my need for a Savior every day so that I can pray from a humble, repentant heart.  Amen.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty."  Psalm 29:1-4

"The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty!
