40 Days of Prayer - Great Faith Begins by Acting on Little Faith - Day 33

Begin your time with God in prayer.
Begin your time with praise to God. Confess any sin that might be hindering your relationship with Him. Ask God to give you spiritual understanding as you spend time in His Word.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.

"14 And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him, 15 said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16 And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.” 17 And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:14-20

How did this man demonstrate a little faith (16)?

How did he exercise a little more faith (14)?

Why couldn’t the disciples help the man’s son (20)?

Apply God’s Word to your life.
· What little step of faith is God asking you to take today?
· How will you focus on God when it feels scary to take that first step?
· Who on your “Pray for 10” list can you invite to come to church?

Father, thank you that I can begin taking little steps of faith as I seek to grow in my faith. Help Me to focus on You and Your purposes today. Help me yield to the leading of Your Word and Your Spirit today. Remove anything from my life that will hinder Your power from being released through my prayers today. May I bring glory to Your Name. Amen.

"So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest), the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho. Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan."  Joshua 3:15-17
