"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice." Philippians 4:4
Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:
1 Corinthians 9:24 - Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
John 6:27 - Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Joy comes from having lived well, having invested our lives for things of eternal value, and having finished the journey God has for us.
Apply God’s Word to your life:
What choices can you make today that will help you finish your “race”?
God, God’s Word and people are eternal. What can you do today that will last for eternity?
Spend some time meditating on 2 Timothy 4:7-8. What does it look like for you to keep the faith today so that you can joyfully await Jesus’ appearing?
Jesus, I am looking forward to Your return. Help me to keep the faith, to serve You faithfully and make an eternal impact on others. Help me to live each day focused on the joy set before me. Convict me when I start to go off course and surround me with godly people so that we can journey together. Amen.

Philippians 2:16-18 - …holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain. But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.
Joshua 1:8 - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
