"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice." Philippians 4:4
Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:
1 Peter 1:3-5 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
According to these verses, what are we born again to?
How does Peter describe our inheritance in heaven?
How is God guarding you so that you receive His inheritance?
There is not one of us who is exempt from difficult, painful and trying circumstances. We’ve all had them in the past. We might be facing them now. They will cross our path again in the future. No matter what we are facing, we can find joy in our salvation. Our sins have been forgiven. We have been given eternal life. God has given us an inheritance. One day, we will be delivered from this world and our sinful flesh.
Apply God’s Word to your life:
What trials or difficult circumstances have overwhelmed you?
Thank God for sending Jesus to die on the cross for your sin.
Tell Him that you are looking forward to the inheritance He has for you and for being delivered from this sinful world.
Ask God to help you live today with your focus on Jesus and eternity, rather than on your circumstances.
Father, I praise You for being a good and merciful God. Thank you for sending Jesus to be my Savior. Thank you for my inheritance – imperishable, undefiled and unfading. Help me to live today with a grateful heart and focused on eternity. Amen.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 - Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Isaiah 61:10 - I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Revelation 21:3-4 - And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
