"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice." Philippians 4:4
Begin your time with God in prayer:
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life. Yield your will to God’s will.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart:
Philippians 3:8-9 - More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.
One who is faithful to God does a few important things. They spend time with God in His Word daily. They worship with the body of Christ weekly. They participate in a small group with other believers for accountability and growth. They serve in ministry by giving of their time and resources. These may seem overwhelming at first. But, if you tackle them one by one, one day you will be able to joyfully look back like Paul, with no regret, because of the relationship you have with Jesus Christ.
Apply God’s Word to your life:
Look at the list above. Before God, evaluate your life. What are you doing well?
What do you need to add or improve upon?
Father, teach me the surpassing value of knowing Jesus Christ, my Lord. Help me to let go of worthless pursuits so that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own, but a righteousness which is through faith in Christ. Amen.
