40 Days of Compassion - Day 40 - Elevate Godly Love
Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
"And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:14-17
Above all, above everything else, we are to put on His love. That means that every day we choose to act in loving ways toward both God and people.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
· How would allowing the peace of Christ to rule in your heart enable you to act with love toward others? What blocks Christ’s peace in your life?
· How does having a thankful heart help you to extend kindness and compassion to others? What are you thankful for today?
· How would letting the Word of God fill your mind help you to love God and others more?
· Put on God’s love today and ask God to love others through you.
Father, help me to grow in my walk with You. I want Your peace to rule in my heart. I want to be thankful and not bitter. Let Your Word guide me through each step of my day. Help me to put on Your love above all else in my life. Amen.
