40 Days of Compassion - Day 4 - Love God Because Your Life Will Be Better

Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is.  Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him.  Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Read Mark 12:30-31 slowly and purposely.  Allow God to write it on your heart.

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."  Romans 8:28

"Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me.  And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."  John 14:21

Loving God requires faith.  Faith is taking God at His Word.  We have the incredible promise that God will work out things for good in our lives when we love Him and live for His purposes.  His Word also says that we love God by keeping His commandments, by living according to the teachings in the Bible.  Even in the midst of very difficult struggles, we can be assured that good will come when we are living for God and following His Word.

Apply God’s Word to your life.

·  Make a list of the ways you have benefitted from knowing God's love thus far in your life.  Take time to praise Him and thank Him.

·  Ask God to grow your faith so that good will come out of your life.

·  Ask God for the discipline to keep seeking Him so that you will know Him better and experience His presence.

·  Ask God to fill you with His love today so that you can share it with those you meet.

Father, I praise You for loving me and for making Yourself known to me.  I am grateful that You want what’s best and good for me and have the path for me to get there.  Forgive me for all of the times that I leave Your path and Your blessings.  Help me to learn to love You by following Your Word so that I can claim Your promise in Romans 8:28.
