Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Write out Mark 12:30-31 from memory.
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." Colossians 3:1-2
God gives us a new life when we give our lives to Christ at salvation. We become citizens of the Kingdom of God. God adopts us into His family and places His Spirit in our lives. In order to become like Christ, we start by shedding what is earthly and setting our minds and hearts on the things of God. This new focus helps us to love God and love people.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
· On what earthly things does your mind tend to dwell?
· What steps can you take to purposely think about spiritual things – God and His Word?
· Take out your “Pray for 10” list and pray that each one would come to know Jesus Christ personally.
· Thank God for changing the direction and focus of your life.
Father, thank you for giving me a new life. Help me to learn to focus on You and the truth in Your Word. Convict me when I am consumed with earthly distractions. Help me to love You with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind, and all my strength. Amen.
Related verses to meditate on:
"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:1-2
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8
