40 Days of Compassion - Day 29 - The Power to Love Like Jesus

Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Try to write out Mark 12:30-31 from memory.

"For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us."  2 Corinthians 4:6-7

The power to love people like Jesus comes from the Spirit which God has put within us.  When our love is not self-serving, people notice!  If we want to continue to grow in our ability to love, we must continue to let God’s light shine through our human bodies.  God’s power is released when we yield to God’s will and God’s ways in our lives.

Apply God’s Word to your life.
· Who in your life do you struggle to love?
· Tell God that you are struggling and ask Him for His power to love this person.
· Ask Him to fill you with His love so that you can love like Jesus.
· Thank Him for transforming you through His Word.

Father, thank you for putting Your Spirit in me so that I have both the power and ability to love others.  I confess that I struggle to love some people.  Empower me with Your Spirit.  Help me to walk in love, like Jesus, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Amen.
