40 Days of Compassion - Day 26 - Blind

Begin your time with God in prayer.

Praise God for who He is.  Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him.  Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.

"I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot.  Would that you were either cold or hot!  So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.  For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked." Revelation 3:17

This was the message from God to the church in Laodicea.  They thought that they didn't need anything, but in truth they were wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.  They had wounds and didn't even know it. Touching people’s wounds is God’s plan to reach them with His love.

Apply God’s Word to your life.
· Recognize that we all have areas in which we are blind.
· When you encounter someone, don’t assume that what you hear or what you see on the surface is the real situation.
· Listen, so that you can touch their real wounds.
· Do what will benefit the person you are loving.

Father, teach me to love like You.  Help me to take the time to care and not just assume that what it is on the surface is true.  Give me the patience to listen and to ask questions.  Show me the real needs of people so that I can touch their wounds with Your love.  Amen.

Related verses to meditate on:

"I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.  He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep."  John 10:11-15
