40 Days of Compassion - Day 23 - Treasure Their Worth

Begin your time with God in prayer.

Praise God for who He is.  Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him.  Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.

Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Read Mark 12:30-31 out loud.

"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."  Matthew 9:35-36

As we seek to love like Jesus, we will learn to see each person as Jesus sees them.  When Jesus walked on this earth, He valued all people.  He spent time with people.  He looked beyond the surface to see their real needs and responded to them with compassion.

Apply God’s Word to your life.
· Instead of treasuring all people, we tend to hang out with the people who are like us.  What people and places do you tend to avoid?
· Take a moment and picture the last crowd you were in.  Maybe it was a sporting event, a school performance, or possibly your church.  Did you really see the people as Jesus would have, or just part of a crowd?
· Most of the time we go about accomplishing our agenda.  Ask God to help you see and treasure the people you meet today like Jesus did.

Father, thank you for sending Jesus to this earth and for giving us Your Word so that we can learn to love like You do.  As I go through my day, help me to be aware of Your presence in my life and to walk slowly so that I will see the people You have placed in my path. Help me love them.  Amen.
