Begin your time with God in prayer.
Praise God for who He is. Confess any sin so that nothing blocks your fellowship with Him. Ask God to use the Spirit and the Word to transform your life.
Let God’s Word penetrate your head and your heart.
Read Mark 12:30-31 and reflect on it.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." James 4:8
"Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God." 1 Peter 22-23
One of the biggest challenges to loving God with all our hearts is that our hearts are divided. Part of our heart is selfish and evil and part of it wants to follow the Spirit’s leading. To love God with all our hearts, we need to recognize our sin and self-focus, confess it as sin, and then surrender our wills to love God by worshipping Him.
Apply God’s Word to your life.
· How have you experienced this battle in your heart this week?
· Draw near to God, confess your battles and surrender to God’s love, God’s will and God’s ways.
· Ask God to empower you to love Him and others with your whole heart today.
Father, forgive me for not giving You the love, devotion and worship you deserve. I am sorry when I let the evil side of heart rule my behavior. Today, I yield my will to You. Please continue to transform my life as I worship You throughout the day. Amen.
